The Urban Project was prepared by the company Profectum from Novi Sad, and the total gross developed area is 6,180 m2.
The construction is planned in the location whose southern part now features the hippodrome complex, which is not operational. In the northeast part of the parcel are driving school grounds, in the southeast part of the parcel is a space where the Zajecar Guitar Fest is traditionally held. A fair is held in the space of the Guitar Fest grounds and the driving school grounds, a very important event in southeast Serbia. Between the Guitar Fest space and the hippodrome is the newly built soccer stadium.
The project of the sports, recreation and tourism complex of the thematic Roman Emperors’ Park encompasses an area of 9.7 hectares, with a central fenced-off part of 5.5 hectares. The park will be designed as an important sports and recreation, tourism, educational and cultural point of the city of Zajecar.
The access road goes from the parking lot with a capacity for 189 cars and 45 bicycles, whereas the smaller parking lot at the south end of the park provides spaces for buses and trucks. A space resembling a triumphal arch will be set up at the entrance to the park, with a control point and a security space. The central entrance area will feature a management building, built in a style resembling the architecture of Felix Romuliana, with the use of stone and bricks, and within it will be hospitality facilities, toilets, the administrative area and spaces for park maintenance.
The main axis of the park will be a wide promenade with waterfalls and fountains, 12 meters wide and 150 meters long, which leads to a semi-circular outdoor theater. The promenade ends at a square with a central round fountain which will be the main visual and interactive element of the park.
Special focus will be placed on the educational path with 17 pavilions where sculptures of Roman imperators will be set up. The promenades are designed so as to provide the visitors with pleasant walks, rest and options for sports and recreation, with water areas, small bridges and views to green areas.
Through interactive sports activities, the visitors will learn about Roman emperors and culture, and activities such as running, archery and team games will be organized in the park.
The pavilions with the sculptures of the imperators, designed with the characteristic slanted roofs, will be lit at night, making for a special visual experience.
The theater and the aqueduct in the park will be built in the style of Felix Romuliana, using bricks and stone, which will connect the architectures of the past and the present.
The park will be equipped with adapted street furniture, including benches, pergolas, waste baskets, lighting, information panels and a PA system, so that the visitors can enjoy the environment of the park.
The park is intended for 1,100 visitors.
