Contractors for Vranjska Banja interchange selected, looking for supervision – New construction deadline end-February 2026

The PE Roads of Serbia signed an agreement on the construction of Vranjska Banja interchange on highway A1, section from Vladicin Han to Donji Neradovac. At the tender which was opened in December last year, the job was won by Gosa Komerc from Vranje, Model 5 from Belgrade, Privredno Drustvo Beoexpert Design from Belgrade and Novi Pazar Put from Novi Pazar, and the price of the job is RSD 1.4 billion (around EUR 12 million), without the VAT.

The PE Roads of Serbia today also opened the tender for the supervision and technical control over these works, worth around EUR 400,000 (RSD 476 million).

According to the tender, the planned deadline for the execution of the works on the construction of the interchange and the three bridges on the route is February 27, 2026, and the planned period for the hiring of professional supervision is until April 27, 2026.

The previous deadline for the finishing of complete construction works, according to the tender for construction from December, was July 31, 2025.

The tender for supervision expires on December 27, at 11 AM, for when the public opening of the bids is scheduled at the premises of the PE Roads of Serbia at 282 Kralja Aleksandra Blvd in Belgrade. More details (in Serbian) HERE.

The planned Vranjska Banja interchange (at 534+199.73 of highway A1) is in the function of a connection of Vranjska Banja, now of national, and in the future, potentially international tourism significance, as well as a connection of the existing IIB-grade state road no. 442 and Kriva Feja with the built section of the highway. Indirectly, it also connects the Prvonek reservoir and the Besna Kobila ski center.

The interchange will have the shape of a “trumpet”.

The current connection of Vranjska Banja with Vranje and the highway is realized with the crossing of the main railroad at the same level and the crossing over the South Morava with the old steel bridge whose profile allows only for use in one direction at a time, because it contains only one driving lane – it is emphasized earlier in the tendering documentation.

Within the construction of the new interchange, the construction of the bridges entails the bridge on the Nis-Presevo railroad (as part of the Vranjska Banja interchange) and the bridge on the South Morava (also as part of this interchange), and a bridge within the Vranjska Banja interchange across the IA-grade state road is also planned.
