Agreement on construction of rail station complex in New Belgrade worth EUR 138 million signed

The completing of the features at the New Belgrade rail station, primarily the construction of the station building, is one step closer to realization. With the director of Shandong for Europe, Wei Yiming, the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, has signed the agreement on the construction of the rail station complex in New Belgrade with the reconstruction of the bridge structure.

The value of the agreement, as he said, is EUR 138 million, of which 70 million will be set aside for the construction of a new station, and close to 40 million for the reconstruction of the bridge structure. It is not specified what the remaining amount of around EUR 28 million will be spent on.

– Our friends from Shandong, of whom I am very proud, will commence the works at the beginning of next year at the latest, and possibly even earlier, and the station will be finished by December 2026 – pointed out Vesic.

The station will be integrated with the bus station and other means of transport – bus and tram transport, and next to the rail station, there will be a subway station on the third line, he said.

Let us remind that part of the features on this station was developed during the construction of the high-speed railroad from Belgrade to Novi Sad, when the tracks and the platforms were reconstructed and the canopies were built, and in the meantime, additional features were built beneath the platform section.
