Vesic said that a total of 16 automatic passport scanners would be installed and that they would be used only by citizens of Serbia of legal age. In other words, they will scan only domestic passports.
– It’s four time faster to go through those scanners than to have the policemen check the passport, and the procedure is to place the passport on the scanner and have it scanned, have your face scanned, the gate opens automatically and you enter the country, because on domestic passports, you don’t have to have a stamp when entering and exiting the country – said Vesic.
He added that, considering that there were around 50% local passengers, he was sure that it would considerably reduce the crowding and enable a much quicker check-in for passengers with Serbian passports.
The minister said that the airport’s concessionaire had promised him that an automatic check-in would be implemented in 2025, thereby additionally accelerating the processes at the Belgrade Airport.
