Competition announced for the arrangement of the Student City complex - 1,000 new accommodations planned

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, in cooperation with the Association of Architects of Serbia, and with the support of UNDP, announced an international one-stage architectural and urban planning competition for the construction of new and reconstruction of existing accommodation facilities in the "Student City" complex in New Belgrade.

The plan is for the student dormitory building in the Student City in Belgrade to cover an area of ​​approximately 24,000 square meters, with a total of 1,000 new places for student accommodation.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Branko Ruzic stated that the construction of new capacities in the "Student City" is part of the Ministry's efforts to improve student standards in Serbia. Ruzic stated that within the "Student housing" project, implemented with the support of the Development Bank of the Council of Europe CEB, EUR 48,500,000 have been secured for the construction of new and reconstruction and extension of the existing student dormitories.

Within the first phase, in addition to the new facility in the Student City, funds will be invested for the completion of the student dormitory in Nis, which will provide a total of 1,400 new places in the student dormitories in these two university centers, Ruzic said and the official Government website reports.


As per the announcement, the "Student housing" program is implemented by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development with the technical support of UNDP.

As specified on the website of the Association of Architects of Serbia, the deadline for submission of works is October 25, and the the results of the competition will be published on November 14.

Provided that at least 10 works arrive by the set deadline and that they meet the propositions, the following prizes will be awarded in the total amount:

The total net prize fund amounts to USD 56,000 (provided that at least 10 works that meet the competition's propositions arrive by the deadline). First place will be awarded with USD 28,000, second USD 14,000, third $7,000, and five will be redeemed for USD 1,400 each.
