The minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic, said today that around EUR 15 billion needed to be invested in the energy sector of Serbia in the coming 10 years and that the guideline for the development and the investments was provided in the Plan of the Development of the Energy Infrastructure and Energy Efficiency Measures for the period until 2028, with projections until 2030, adopted by the Government of Serbia. She also added that the public invitation for the strategic partner for the construction of solar power plants of 1 GW would be opened not long after, the ministry announced.

– We will build new production capacities with an active role of the public sector and the stimulation of private sector investments. We have adopted amendments to the Law on the Use of RES and opened auctions for market premiums for 450 MW from wind and solar power, as part of a three-year plan that entails us getting a new 1,300 MW capacities from RES. We are soon to have a public invitation for the strategic partner for the construction of solar power plants of 1 GW. Over EUR 300 million has also been secured for investments of Elektrodistribucija Srbije, which are to start this year and which are important for us to secure stable and reliable operations of the network and a reduction of losses. Another priority is to increase energy efficiency, where, in addition to investing in public facilities, USD 50 million has also been secured for subsidies to households. Over 130 local self-governments have applied in response to the public invitation and we expect the agreements to be signed soon – Djedovic said while opening the PowerTech 2023 conference, whose co-organizer is the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Belgrade.
