The minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, expects the first tunnel-boring machines (TBMs), so-called “moles”, which will bore the underground tubes for the subway system, to be delivered by the end of next year or the beginning of 2026, and that, in the meantime, the construction of the subway stations will start, some of them by the end of 2025.

As Newsmax Balkans reports, Vesic said on RTS that, on 72 hectares in Makisko Polje, the establishment of the embankment had been completed and added that a depot, an operating center which would control the whole subway system, infrastructure halls, train repair halls and similar facilities would be built next.

– The subway is a state-level project on which the city of Belgrade does not have to spend a single dinar and we will complete the subway system – Vesic said and emphasized that the plan was for the first subway line to be completed by 2028, and the second by 2030.

He said that, parallel with the subway, there would be efforts toward expanding the capacities of the BG Voz system.
