When the preparatory works for the construction of the Belgrade-Novi Sad-Zrenjanin highway, which will be 105 kilometers long in total, began in December 2023, the state authorities said that the entire section would be completed five years later. Not even a whole nine months later, a new deadline has been given – six years, or to put it euphemistically, 72 months.

That this highway should be completed in 72 months was pointed out by the minister of construction of Serbia, Goran Vesic, while visiting the construction site on the occasion of the beginning of the construction of the first bridge on this highway. With prime minister Milos Vucevic, he visited the site between Glogonjski Rit and Jabucki Rit, and the CCP secretary of the Shandong Province, Lin Wu, and the chairman at Shandong Hi-Speed Group, Wang Qifeng.

As specified during the visit, “the construction period is 72 months, including the designing period.”

– The works on that highway will be completed in six years, and the project is worth EUR 1.5 billion. It will be built through joint work of both the Chinese company Shandong Hi-Speed and the Serbian companies that are working on this project – said Vesic.
