Novi Sad-Subotica Railroad to Be Completed by End-2024

The construction of the fast railroad section Novi Sad-Subotica will be completed as planned, by the end of 2024, said the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, after a meeting of the Work Group which monitors the dynamics of the works on the construction of the section.

The Novi Sad-Subotica section is 108.2 kilometers long, and the works encompass the construction of two tracks of the railroad to the border with Hungary near Kelebija and the reconstruction of nine railroad station. The construction of rail hubs in Novi Sad, Vrbas and Subotica is planned.

On the entire railroad section, a total of 49 overpasses, underpasses and viaducts will be built, and the biggest structure will be the viaduct near Vrbas, 1,600 meters long, according to the website of the ministry.


– Each week, we have regular meetings at which we solve the problems that appear in the course of the realization of a project this big. The construction of the fast railroad between Belgrade and Subotica, that is, the section between Novi Sad and Subotica at the moment, is currently our biggest national project – Vesic said at the meeting held in Subotica.

According to him, thanks to it, in 2025, it will take less than three hours to travel between Belgrade and Budapest on this fast railroad.
