The Government of Republika Srpska adopted the Decree on the amendment of the Decree on the capping of goods trade margins whereby the existing retail trade margins are lowered from 10% to 8%, whereas the existing wholesale trade margins are lowered from 8% to 6%.

As announced by the Government of Republika Srpska, with said decree, in the production of pharmaceutical products and medicines, the existing retail margin is lowered from 20% to 18%, and the existing wholesale margin is lowered from 8% to 6%.

The main reason for adopting the new decree is the rapid growth of wholesale and retail prices of products that has been recorded in the RS market, caused primarily by external factors, such as the growth of prices in world markets, energy source price increase and unfavorable weather conditions, which have had an effect on the agriculture and caused lower yields and similar negative effects.

The adoption of the decree will contribute to the lowering of retail prices of daily necessities and products of importance for the living standard of the populace, and the decree comes into effect eight days from the publication in the Official Gazette of Republika Srpska.
