Box System goes to Slush 2018 – Serbian start-up devises solution for fresh food transport
Finnish experts have decided to name Box System start-up as the winner of the local Slush competition. By winning this competition, Box System got exclusive opportunity to participate in Helsinki BootCamp programme and a ticket for Slush 2018 conference which are held in November and December respectively in Helsinki, Finland.
Box System has designed a product called WooBox that is used to transport fresh foods that require certain temperature conditions. WooBox is made out of wood and wool and present a natural alternative to expanded polystyrene foam. Thus, Box System strives to become an important link in the chain of circular economy on a global level and to contribute in that way to our planet's sustainable future.
– We expect to find partners and investors in Scandinavia who would join our concept of replacing Styrofoam by promoting basic insulating materials such as wool and wood. We also hope to expand the network of contacts and possible cooperation with other start-ups and organizations that have an ecological and green component in their mission, said Nikica Marinkovic, co-founder of the Box System.
Eleven start-ups took part in the local competition this year, with the ideas they are developing in the field of sustainable innovation, and vastly different original solutions to burning questions. The local Slush competitions, held annually since 2015, were organized by Innovation Fund and Embassy of Finland in Belgrade.
The Slush conference, one of the largest of its kind in Europe, offers start-ups the opportunity to present themselves to a large number of investors and companies, while the BootCamp programme provides a chance to improve their skills and business models. Last year, this two-day conference brought together 20,000 visitors from 130 countries, including more than 2,600 start-ups and 1,600 investors. This year, the Slush Conference will be held on December 4-5.
