NALED: Serbia should introduce electronic requests for building permit

According to a survey conducted by the NALED and the USAID Business Enabling Project among companies, building permit in Serbia is awaited for somewhat less than 17 months on average. Therefore, one of the first tasks of the new Government after the adoption of the Law on Spatial Planning and Development must be the introduction of electronic system for filing requests for building permit, the NALED announced.

Such system is already applied in our region. Namely, Macedonia introduced it and, thus, shortened the permitting period five times (from 100 to 20 days). This would primarily solve the problem of arbitrary decision making and possible corruption.
