Vrsac to obtain Olympic swimming pool near City Lake - Aqua park construction in the pipeline

(landscaping of lake's surroundings is the first phase)

Infrastructure plans of the local self-government in Vrsac for this year include landscaping work on the City Lake, which has been crying out for investment for two decades now. Zoran Tomic, deputy mayor, told eVrsac that their intention was to keep the City Lake "alive" during the whole year and not only during the summer season.

- Landscaping work will involve the reconstruction of trails for pedestrians, bicyclists and roller skaters, completion of a road and a parking lot in front of the lake, new lighting system and a zone for hospitality facilities such as coffee shops and restaurants. This phase should also see the drilling of a well to allow for the supply of quality water - said Tomic.

The second phase of the City Lake landscaping project includes the construction of facilities the citizens of Vrsac have been dreaming of for so long.

There will be an outdoor Olympic swimming pool (50x25x2 meters) equipped with complete infrastructure, eVrsac writes.

(swimming pools for children and small aqua park)

- Aside from the Olympic pool, the plan is also to build a swimming pool for children, featuring water slides and game equipment, as well as a small water park. We will also have the old facility reconstructed and then have a new one built complete with toilets, lockers, changing cabins... The funding has already been provided, partially from the budget and partially from the Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth - Tomic explained.

According to the project, the municipality should be the investor, but the question is who is going to manage this complex.

- We will organize a tendering process and entrust the management of all facilities at the lake to the best bidder, thus raising safety to the highest level - Tomic said to local media companies and added that there would be a rescue service at the City Lake this year.

As eKapija reported earlier, Vrsac also has big plans for using grants from IPA funds this year.
