Modern Olympic swimming pool for world championships - Pancevo gets water sports center worth 8 million euros by the end of 2013
The City of Pancevo plans construction of the most modern Olympic swimming pool in the region for the world's most important competitions. The project design will be finished in late August and the city will then start collecting funds for the construction. The plan is to invest about EUR 8 million in the Pancevo water sports center, which should be completed until late 2013.
The idea is that the water sports center in Pancevo offers the best conditions for practices and organization of the most significant sports events. The center will include the state-of-the-arts equipment and it will be built in Kotez 2, in the vicinity of seven schools in Pancevo. The building will comprise a fitness and spa center, while the swimming pool will be 51.5 meters long.
There will be stands for 420 spectators and another two prefabricated stands with 250 and 300 seats. In addition to the large pool, the water sports center will also include a smaller swimming pool for practices.
Authors of this building are architects Aleksandar
Spajic and Djordje Bajilo and a big team of their associates and engineers of various profiles. The carrier of the complete project is Masinoprojekt Kopring from Belgrade. The architectural part of the project, functional and programme concepts, as well as interior and exterior, are jointly designed by Belgrade-based Autorski Atelje Spajic and the architectural studio DBA doo from Novi Sad.
The main characteristics of the building are contemporary architectural forms and materials. Materialization is in accordance with the purpose of the facility and it is dominated by large facade panels made of alucobond, impressive glass surfaces, and an entrance zone plated, for the first time in Serbia, by terracotta facade. The interior is adapted to the use of the water sports center for official competitions of the highest rank, in line with the regulations of FINA, which participated in the design of this project as an adviser. Also, the building will be open to citizens for recreation, fun, swimming courses, physical education, as well as for the practices of top sports teams.
It will be the most modern swimming pool complex in this part of Europe, utilizing all forms of waste energy, renewable energy sources and cost optimization systems!
The water sports center in Pancevo is the first public sports facility in Serbia to have all characteristics of an intelligent and energy-efficient building, which guarantees it will be used for a long time to the benefit of athletes and the local community.
