Unique six-star complex on Sveti Marko island - Master Plan for development of Montenegrin island presented

The unique six-star holiday resort on Sveti Marko island will comprise marvelous villas, luxurious hotels, SPA centers, sand beaches and private marina. The first such island sanctuary in Europe, which will enable development of tourist potentials of Montenegro, will occupy the surface of 8 ha, that is, 14% of the whole island.

According to the plan, suites and hotels at 4,800 square meters, 74 private villas at 44,390 square meters and bungalows at 12,250 square meters will be built on that island in the bay of Tivat. In addition, Sveti Marko island, the home of gods from Greek mithology, will also comprise restaurants, bars, coffee shops, boutiques, yachting club, as well as the network of SPA services.

Company "Metropol Development", a part of "Metropol" group, presented the renewed Master Plan for the Sveti Marko Island Development Project at the First Festival of Real Estates and Investments in Montenegro (FREI 2009). On April 20, 2007, "Metropol" Group bought travel company "Putnik", one of the main assets of which was Sveti Marko island.

- Indisputable priority in realization of the project is maximum preservation of nature on the island. The latest environment-friendly technologies will be used in construction and further functioning of the holiday resort, while electric energy will be the only source of energy for everything, without exception, including transportation means – said Aleksej Rudenko, the Coordinator of the Sveti Marko Island Development Project.

He pointed out that several options for approach to the island were taken in consideration in the current phase of the project - water transportation, temporary bridges, air cranes or helicopters.

The main partner of the project is "Banyan Tree" from Singapore, the world's leading company for management and planning of holiday hostels, hotels and network of premium-class SPA-services. The companies that are engaged in implementation of the project are English companies "Savillis", the Project Coordinator and the Sales Adviser, "Woods Bagot", the Chief Project Architect, and ARUP, the Project Engineer.

According to some earlier announcements, company "Metropol" plans to invest about 450m EUR in that luxurious holiday resort.
