Matijevic to take over Jugoexport building on February 1 – New four-star hotel in downtown Belgrade

(Petar Matijevic) Petar Matijevic, owner of Matijevic meat industry, confirmed yesterday that he would take over the purchased Jugoexport building on February 1, as he had paid the entirety of EUR 7.3 million and had the agreement authorized.

Matijevic said for Beta that allegations by certain media about the sale of the building being disputed by Alpha Bank at the court were untrue.

– The bank used to be the majority first demand creditor and had receivables of around EUR 10 million from Jugoexport. The entire amount has been collected and there are no obstacles to my taking over the purchased building and turning it into a hotel – Matijevic said.

When asked when the reconstruction was to begin, Matijevic said that the project of the reconstruction of the facade, which is under state protection, was being prepared.

He added that the four-star hotel will have 65 rooms and 40 parking spaces, and that congress tourism halls had not been planned.

Matijevic bought the 5,500 m2 Jugoexport building for EUR 7.3 million in late December 2016, competing against Miodrag Kostic’s MK Group and Alpha Bank.
