AIK Bank and MK Group are expanding their traditional program “Family Support” with donations to maternity wards throughout the region. The project, whose total value is over EUR 700,000, is being realized in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro.

On that occasion, representatives of AIK Bank and MK Group held a meeting with the minister of health of Serbia, Zlatibor Loncar, where a financial donation of EUR 100,000 for the maternity ward within the Clinical-Hospital Center “Dr Dragisa Misovic” was agreed.

– An increase in the birth rate and the care for the youngest ones are strategic goals for Serbia, because children are our future. That is why the state invests extremely big amounts of money in the reconstruction and construction of new hospitals, we are renewing pediatric departments, gynecology and obstetrics clinics, we are also building Tirsova 2, because we want to create even better conditions for the youngest patients. But we are very glad that MK Group and AIK Bank will support our health system this year as well, this time supporting our maternity wards. We have agreed a donation for the gynecology department at the Clinical-Hospital Center “Dragisa Misovic”, especially considering that the hospital cares for pregnant women and children who are infected with COVID-19. On this occasion, we agreed another important thing, which is that, to every dinar invested by MK Group and AIK Bank in Serbian healthcare, we will invest another one – Loncar pointed out and reminded that MK Group had also helped the health system of Serbia the previous year, including the vacation they secured at their hotels for the health workers from within the COVID-19 system.

– This donation is an expansion of the “Family Support” program, which AIK Bank and MK Group organize for their employees who become parents in the current year. This year, “Family Support” has expanded to the local communities that we operate in, through donations to maternity wards in the whole region – in Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. I believe that the moments in which life is created are precious not just for every family, but also for the whole nation. Investing in new generations means investing in the future of the region and that is why, this way, we want to contribute to the improvement of the conditions under which a new life is born. On this occasion, I would like to think minister Loncar, who helped us identify the maternity ward which will receive our donation – said Jelena Galic, the chairperson of the Executive Board of AIK Bank.

– Our socially responsible activities have been largely directed to healthcare and care for children and the young anyway. This time, we are focusing on future mothers and babies. For this purpose, we have set aside EUR 100,000 for the maternity ward within the Clinical-Hospital Center “Dragisa Misovic”, and the value of the whole regional project is over EUR 700,000. This way, we are once again connecting the whole region as a company which employs 6,000 people throughout the Adriatic region – pointed out Aleksandra Stojanovic, the corporate affairs manager of MK Group.

The regional project “Family Support” will be realized in the upcoming period in the five countries of the region that MK Group and AIK Bank operate in. The financial donations to the selected maternity wards aim to enable better conditions for pregnant women, new mothers and babies, but also to provide long-term support to family policies and measures for the inciting of a birth rate growth.

In the local communities where it is present, MK Group has realized over 500 socially responsible campaigns worth over EUR 5 million in the past five years alone. Last year, the company set aside more than EUR 1 million for its humanitarian activities toward the fight against the coronavirus and, on that occasion, it was awarded with the Main Virtus acknowledgment for its contribution to philanthropy on a national level and it was pronounced the socially responsible company of the year by the Serbian Association of Managers.
