New Oil Pipeline from Novi Sad to Hungary Should Connect Serbia with Druzba Oil Pipeline and Secure 5.5 Million Tons of Oil a Year

The new oil pipeline which will be built from Novi Sad to Hungary, will connect Serbia with the Druzba oil pipeline and improve the security of oil supply, said the minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic, in her conversation with the acting director of Transnafta AD Pancevo, Bogdan Kuzmanovic. As said, this oil pipeline will secure 5.5 million tons of oil a year for Serbia.

According to her, just like there are efforts to diversify the supply of natural gas, it is very important to diversify the oil supply as well, and the project of the construction of a new pipeline, which will connect Serbia with the oil pipeline system in Hungary, is well on its way.

– We will thereby fully ensure the security of supply of the Pancevo Oil Refinery and diversify the oil supply routes – Djedovic pointed out.

Kuzmanovic informed the minister of the progress of the talks with the Hungarian company Mol about the harmonization of the technical aspects of the construction of the new oil pipeline, which will secure 5.5 million tons of oil a year for Serbia.

In the coming weeks, the Memorandum of Cooperation for the realization of the construction of the Hungary-Serbia oil pipeline is expected to be signed as well.

The priority investments of Transnafta and the plans of the construction of new interconnections, oil pipelines and oil products pipelines, which will connect Serbia with the neighboring countries and additionally upgrade the security of oil supply, were also discussed at the meeting.
