Slavija gets water fountain five stories tall - City of Belgrade invites main designs for fountain at Dimitrija Tucovica Square
(Vladan Drndarevic's preliminary design that should serve as the basis for main designs)
Belgrade is looking for designers to draw designs for water fountain at Slavija. The Investment Agency has announced an open competition to select a company that will prepare the entire technical documentation for this fountain. The project should be completed this autumn, so the procedure with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in regard to the withdrawal of funds for the regeneration of Slavija and the construction of new water fountain in its center could be finished during the winter.
Although the construction of water fountain will run parallel to the regeneration of Slavija, the process of drawing main designs for this fountain is separated from the reconstruction of roundabout, pedestrian crossings and passages due to its specific technical details. The current plan is to commence works in March 2015.
As explained by Goran Radulovic, assistant to the director of the Investment Agency, the fountain will pretty much look like in preliminary designs. However, minor corrections are still possible.
Monument to Dimitrije Tucovic
The monument to Dimitrije Tucovic will be moved from the current mound in the center of the roundabout to a slanting surface in front of the new building of the National Bank of Serbia. Tucovic will remain at Slavija, but in its other part, which will also be regenerated.
