Deutsche Telekom wants Telekom Srbija - Government of Serbia favors German company?

Deutsche Telekom is interested in taking over Telekom Srbija, today’s Blic reports and ads that German telecommunication company is a favorite of the Serbian government.

The sources of the newspaper says that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is interested in stake acquiring in Telekom Srbija but that the Government of Serbia favors Deutsche Telekom which operatesin 50 countries and hires 230.000 people.

- Deutsche Telekom ist he owner of telecommunication companies in Croatia and Montenegro. Two weeks ago, it provided the offer for the privatization of Telekom Slovenia so its decision to enter Serbian market and thus circle business in the Balkans – an anonymous collocutor of Blic said.

The source outlined that Deutsche Telekom would acquire majority stake at Telekom Srbija while EBDR in Serbia so far has been acquiring minor share in companies and banks.

The plan is to find a buyer for Telekom Srbija by the end of the year and it is estimated that the sale would bring at least EUR 1,4 billion, the amount the company was estimated at in 2011, Blic reports.
