500,000 CHF for science in Serbia – Switzerland and Serbia signed agreement on development of scientific-research cooperation "SCOPES"
Minister of Science and Environment Protection of Serbia, Aleksandar Popović, and the Ambassador of Switzerland to Serbia, Vilhelm Mejer, have signed the Memorandum of understanding between the two countries, which relates to technical collaboration in field of science, worth about 500,000 CHF.
Regional program for scientific-research cooperation, also known under the name of "SCOPES" (Scientific Co-operation between Eastern Europe and Switzerland), is financed by Swiss Government with about 500,000 CHF and it is conducted under the patronage of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), which also manages the program.
The Program is focused on promotion of research projects of high quality and improvement of working conditions in our scientific institutions, which should enable further upgrading of the level of scientific work and better integration of researchers and institutions into international scientific community.
In the scope of "SCOPES" Program, 15 joint research projects of the scientists from Serbia and Switzerland, in the field of nuclear physics, ecology, health care, geology, chemistry, etc., will be implemented prior to 2008.
