Transnafta first public utility company in Serbia with ISO 50001:2011 certified energy management system

Public utility company Transnafta has successfully achieved certification of its energy management system in accordance with the international standard ISO 50001:2011, in October, 2013. Energy management system (in accordance with ISO 50001:2011) is fully integrated with the existing quality, environmental and occupational, health & safety management system (in accordance with ISO 9001/ISO 14001/BS OHSAS 18001). PU Transnafta thus became one of only few companies in the Serbia with certified integrated management system (ISO 9001:2008 / ISO 14001:2004 / OHSAS 18001:2007 / ISO 50001:2011), as is stated in the public announcement of Victoria consulting, company that was engaged as consultant for this project.

The success is even greater, since it is known that one of the main benefits of energy management system is improving energy performance through rational planning of the energy use and consumption, which leads to achieving also financial savings.

Since Transnafta already successfully operates ISO 9001/ISO 14001/BS OHSAS 18001 for several years and has a very good expert team, it is not surprise that exactly this company is one of the first organizations in Serbia which recognized the importance of ISO 50001 : 2011.

Certification audit was conducted in October 2013, by certification body Bureau Veritas.

The public enterprise Transnafta was founded by the Government of the Republic of Serbia in the year 2005, for the purpose of performing activities of public interest. The company's main task is creating conditions for the secure, safe and reliable transport of crude oil via pipeline, thereby ensuring the continuity of crude oil supply.

Victoria consulting was the first consultancy company in Serbia to initiate ISO 50001 training for the industry (the first training was in 2010 while ISO 50001 was in draft stage, and it was co-organized with Serbian chamber of commerce for more than 100 participants). Victoria consulting has broaden business with integration into the Denkstatt Group with the headquarters in Vienna, which has offices in seven countries in the region. It is interesting to be said that denkstatt was also engaged as consultant for introducing ISO 50001:2011 in the hotel chain NH Hoteles – the first hotel chain in the world with ISO 50001:2011 certificate.

Also, "Victoria consulting" was the first at the market which send initiative to Institute of Standardization of Serbia to form a mirror technical committee for energy management standards, since this is crutial for the Serbian economy. Very soon, the committee has been established, standard ISO 50001:2011 was translated and published as a national standard SRPS ISO 50001:2012 and director of Victoria consulting was elected as chairperson of this committee.
