Copper mill in Sevojno in finish of big investment cycle
Of production of about 33,000 tons, which was planned for this year, the producton of 21,512 tons was realized in the last eight months in the Copper mill Sevojno, which is the increase by 6% in comparison to the eight-month period last year, said the general manager of that factory, Dragan Subotić, and added that the value of the production amounted to 170m EUR, 150m EUR of which were marketed on the forign market, which made Sevojno-based factory the second bigger exporter in Serbia.
He reminded that the factory employs 1,529 workers at the momen and, since the privatization, two and half years ago, when the consortium of Cyprian companies East Point and Amalco became the majority owner, the production has been increased by over 60%. The new owners obliged to invest about 17m EUR, but they increased the investment program to 20.7m EUR.
So far, 13.25m EUR have been realized. In the indirect function is the investment of 6.3m EUR, whereas the rest is in the phase of the commenced works. Only the reconstruction of casting device, which was put into trial operation few days ago, was worth 1.2m EUR, while about 1m EUR were invested in the first phase of the gas introduction to the factory. The investment cycle will enable production of about 36,000 tons, while it should reach the level of 40,000 tons in 2008.
