Nis-based Jugo Impex E.E.R. to open electronic and electrical waste recycling plant on September 20th

E-reciklaza, a new EUR 8 million recycling plant for electronic and electrical waste, will be opened Thursday, September 20th, in Nis, as part of the factory Jugo Impex E.E.R., this company said in a release.

Jugo Impex E.E.R. CEO Ninoslav Milenkovic told Beta news agency that the new recycling plant for refrigerators, small and large household appliances and cathode ray tubes represented the biggest domestic greenfield investment in Nis in the last decade.

- The factory employs 250 workers, while up to 4,000 people will be working as waste collectors and collaborators - Milenkovic said, adding that about 2,000 collaborators were employed at the moment.

According to his words, the recycling plant for electrical and electronic waste is designed in line with the latest technologies and can process 50 tonnes of waste per day, while its annual processing capacity amounts to about 15,000 tonnes.

- A special value of the new plant lies in the fact that it will be the first place in Serbia where refrigerators and all other cooling appliances can be completely recycled. Capable of processing 1,000 refrigerators a day, it is a recycling plant with the biggest capacity in the country and the region - said Milenkovic.

As he added, all the waste processed at this plant can be reused - cathode glass, metal parts, copper cables and plastics.

- This factory will be exporting all the recycled material. It will export the recycled material that can be reused in the industry - Milenkovic said and stressed that all waste would be disposed of in the prescribed manner.

Cathode glass will be exported to the Netherlands, while freon will be sent to Germany, Milenkovic noted.

He said that the plan was to also have the waste from former Yugoslav republics recycled at the Nis-based plant.

In order to make waste collection easier, people from any part of Serbia can dial 0800-085-085 free of charge to call a team to collect old electrical and electronic appliances in their surroundings. Within 24 hours, such appliances will be collected, transported for free and safely recycled.

Milenkovic announced that the recyling plant would be opened by Serbian Minister of Energy, Development and Environment Protection Zorana Mihajlovic.
