Kraljevo expands to right bank of the Ibar - Bridge construction as first step towards new residential and business core
(Kraljevo)
After being announced for several years, the construction of a bridge on the Ibar river in Kraljevo, which will connect Ribnica and Karadjordjeva Street via Skopljanska Street, has finally kicked off.
This bridge has brought hope that Kraljevo will finally get a new part of the city, because the construction of a business and residential complex on its other side is already in the pipeline.
The bridge is 240 meters long and features both bicycle and walking paths. It rests on five pillars, none of which is placed in the Ibar. Workers are currently paving a part of former dike and clearing the approaches to the river.
As Goran Vukovic from the Town Planning Department of the Kraljevo Development Directorate explains to eKapija, with the construction of this bridge and an access road from Zicka Street to the bridge, the first city ring will be formed.
As Vukovic underlines, this practically means that a bypass will be created around the center of Kraljevo, which will significantly relieve traffic congestion.
The value of this investment is close to RSD 180 million, and the money for this project has already been earmarked in the budget of the city of Kraljevo as one of its planned capital investments.
The investor is the Kraljevo Planning and Development Directorate, while the contractor is Kraljevo-based Yu Keops, which has so far participated in the construction of 15 bridges in Serbia. The author of all designs is the company N-ing.
All the work on the bridge should be finished in one year.
New city center
All bridges connect people, making their life easier in that way, but this bridge will be of special importance. Namely, according to town plans, the bridge represents only the first step towards the revival of the part of the city located on its other side, which is something that eKapija already wrote about earlier.
There is no room for new construction projects in Kraljevo any more. Therefore, a new part of Kraljevo is planned to be developed on the right bank of the Ibar, on an area spanning 140 hectares.
New and old buildings stand next to each other in the very center of Kraljevo, and people say that it is even impossible to walk between the buildings in certain parts of the city. That is why an ambitious plan is made to expand Kraljevo to the area on the other side of the Ibar, which some people already call New Kraljevo.
According to a spatial plan, the area on the right bank of the river will feature various facilities ranging from business and sports to residential buildings. Unofficially, this is exactly the reason why several respectable domestic and foreign investors have been eyeing land lots in this part of Kraljevo for a long time now.
It is said that the new neighborhood will be big enough to accommodate about 7,000 people, while its look will represent a combination of apartment complexes and family houses. There will also be a school, kindergarten, health center, market, outlets, warehouses, park...
