Michael Kirby appointed as new US ambassador to Serbia

The U.S. Embassy in Belgrade announced Friday on Twitter the appointment of Michael Kirby, presently Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of State, as the new U.S. ambassador to Serbia.
The White House announced Thursday, also on Twitter, U.S. President Barack Obama's intention to appoint Kirby as the ambassador to Serbia.
Kirby will replace Mary Warlick as the head of the U.S. diplomatic mission to Belgrade.
Warlick has been holding the position since 2010.
