Stampa Sistem not giving up Futura Plus after all
Stampa Sistem has announced that it will ask again for the approval to take over Futura Plus.
- Stampa Sistem does not give up its intentions. We've withdrawn the application filed to the Commission for Protection of Competition for procedural reasons - reads a statement issued by Stampa Sistem.
The statement reads that that "does not mean at all that Stampa Sistem has given up its intention" and that the new application for the approval of concentration will be submitted shortly after all procedural requirements are met.
The Commission for Protection of Competition has announced that it has stopped the Futura Plus takeover procedure at the request of Stampa Sistem after the latter sent a notice of withdrawal of the request.
Stampa Sistem, a member of the business system Centroproizvod, announced on January 27th that it had purchased claims from certain bankruptcy creditors of Futura Plus and that it would become its co-owner through reorganization of that company.
Centroproizvod bought a chain of newsstands in Serbia - Stampa Sistem, from the German media group WAZ in February 2011. Ever since, Stampa Sistem has been operating under the name of Centro Stampa, while Futura Plus had been in the possession of businessman Stanko Subotic before it went into bankruptcy.
