The key measures include:
- Final Objective (by October 2026): Enabling motorists from one CEFTA Party to travel to another CEFTA Party without requiring a Green Card or equivalent MTPL insurance documentation.
- Intermediary Objective (by October 2025): Reducing administrative fees for obtaining a Green Card and allowing recognition of MTPL insurance based on vehicle registration plates issued in the Parties that are members of the Multilateral Agreement.
Additionally, the CEFTA Joint Committee has urged the Parties to fully digitize insurance documents and facilitate the electronic exchange of these documents. This digital transition aims to eliminate the need for physical insurance documents when travelling within CEFTA.
– These actions are based on the Action Plan for the establishment of the Common Regional Market (priority 3.3) and 2024 CEFTA Chairmanship Priorities (priority 2) – it is concluded in CEFTA’s press release.
