The leasing industry of Serbia will reach the record value of EUR 1 billion of financed goods by the end of this year, and the majority of that amount finances the development of the operations of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurs, the president of the Association of Leasing Companies of Serbia (ALCS), Ivan Jaukovic, stated today.

– If we add to it the growth of the leasing industry of around 30% compared to the previous year and the fact that the growth of the number of contracts ranges within similar parameters, it is clear that the activity of the leasing industry is considerably increased, despite the complicated geopolitical situation – he said at the conference “Leasing and the Future of Mobility” at the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.

Jaukovic believes that this shows that, as a financial product, leasing is more adaptable and resilient than others.

He says that SMEs comprise around 70% of the clients of the leasing companies in Serbia, which primarily assist them in early, critical phases of doing business, and adds that SMEs see leasing as the most favorable form of financing.

Jaukovic says that the trend is very similar to the one in Europe, where leasing is also the most desirable form of the financing of SMEs.

– In Serbia, leasing is mostly used to finance passenger vehicles, at over 40%, and around 35% of leasing is used for the purchase of trucks, buses and light delivery vehicles – said the president of the ALCS.

Among other things, as he said, in Serbia, leasing finances the modernization of public transport, that is, the procurement of new buses, electric delivery vehicles and taxi vehicles.

The ALCS concludes that, judging by the trend so far, the leasing industry can be expected to continue growing in the next business year as well.
