Industrial turnover in May grows 5.9%, mining explodes

In May this year, compared to May last year, the industrial production dropped 1.1%, but the turnover in industry increased 5.9%, announced the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.

The turnover of energy increased in May by 33.9% year-on-year, and that of capital products by 12.1%. The growth of the turnover of intermediate products, of 6.9%, was recorded as well.

At the same time, a drop of the industrial turnover of durable consumer products (8.1%) and non-durable products (3.6%) was realized.

While the turnover in the manufacturing industry in May, compared to the same month last year, amounted to 3.5%, the turnover in mining increased by as much as 68.9%. This primarily pertains to the external market, in which the turnover in mining increased 101.9%.


It is interesting that the export of the manufacturing industry dropped, because the turnover in the external markets dropped by 6.7%, whereas, in the local market, it increased 12.3%.
