Green light for demolition and construction of access structures to Pancevo Bridge on right bank of Danube

The Ministry of Environmental Protection of Serbia has notified the public about the adopted decision by which approval is given for an environmental impact assessment study of the project of the demolition and construction of access structures on the right bank of the road-rail bridge on the Danube – the Pancevo Bridge in Belgrade, section Belgrade (Bogoslovija)-Krnjaca interchange.

The PE Roads of Serbia submitted the request for giving approval for the environmental impact assessment study for this project in February.

The duration of the works has been estimated at 1,314 days. The project envisages works on the upstream structure, and then on the downstream structure too, so that traffic is not affected to a great extent. The plan is to first build new temporary ramps, then demolish the existing structures in phases and finally, build new structures in phases.

The access structures across the Danube on the right bank were built between 1960 and 1964 and consist of two rows of independent pre-stressed bridges – the upstream, right-hand bridge in the Pancevo-Belgrade direction and the downstream, left-hand bridge in the Belgrade-Pancevo direction.
