Japanese NTT Data wants to develop smart cities within Expo 2027

The prime minister of Serbia, Miloš Vučević, yesterday talked to representatives of the company NTT Data from Japan and a delegation of Japan's Embassy about new investments and opportunities for the improvement of cooperation, the ministry announced. Vučević said that the potential for cooperation with the Japanese IT company was primarily within the plan "EXPO 2027" in areas such as cyber security, construction of digital platforms and smart cities.

The ambassador of Japan, Akira Imamura, said that NTT Data wanted smart cities that used potentials of technology and innovation, together with other resources, to promote sustainable development and, as the ultimate goal, ensure quality improvement of the citizens’ lives, as announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.

Imamura emphasized that a significant number of Japanese companies were interested in operating in Serbia, and that an important item was the orientation of Serbia in the field of biotechnology and artificial intelligence.

Vučević pointed out that Serbia was a country with excellent business climate, especially for investments in the field of information technologies and that it was the leader in the region in innovative technologies and the field of artificial intelligence.


– The Information Technology Sector in Serbia records a permanent growth in recent years and thus is becoming one of the most promising and most attractive industries in Serbia – he stated.

The prime minister noted that the bilateral economic cooperation between Serbia and Japan increased more and more in intensity, that Japanese investors had recognized the advantages of business in Serbia and that an increasing number of Japanese companies operated in the Serbian market.
