The EU Delegation to Serbia has announced the publishing of the tender for the construction of one part of the Belgrade-Nis fast railroad for July 1 this year.

The procuring party is the company Serbian Railways Infrastructure, and the tender pertains to the Velika Plana-Paracin section.

According to the prior notice about the publishing of the tender, the Belgrade-Nis railroad, 230 kilometers long, is of strategic importance for the state and its connection with European rail networks, and constructions costs are estimated at EUR 2.8 billion.

The agreement pertains to the thorough modernization, reconstruction and extension of the Velika Plana-Paracin section.

Serbia intends to finance the project from several sources, including the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the EU grants secured through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF).

As announced earlier, the construction of the fast railroad will begin in 2025 and last three and a half years.
