The Delegation of the European Union to Serbia has opened the call for the expression of an interest for the supervision of the construction of the Belgrade-Nis fast railroad on behalf of the procuring entity, Serbian Railways Infrastructure.

As reminded in the call, the project entails the modernization, reconstruction and extension of around 230 km of the Belgrade-Nis railroad in order to better connect it with European rail networks and is one of the most important investments in the expanded TEN-T Core network.

The investment is estimated at EUR 2.8 billion, and Serbia intends to finance the project from several sources, including the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Western Balkans Investment Framework.

The deadline for the expression of an interest for the supervision of the construction of the fast railroad is April 2 until 10am, and on that day, as announced, an announcement will also be made about the date of the publication of the tender.

Other details can be found HERE.

The minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, announced a month ago that the first tenders for the supervision within the project of the construction of the fast railroad from Belgrade to Nis would be opened at the end of January.

– In January, the first tenders for supervision within that project will be opened, in May or June, the tender for the construction of the second and third sections will be opened, and the tender for the construction of the first section will be opened in December – announced Vesic on TV Pink.

Nebojsa Surlan, the director general of Serbian Railways Infrastructure, explained that the project was split into three sections. The first one goes from Resnik to Velika Plana, the second from Velika Plana to Paracin and the third from Paracin to Trupale.

– For sections two and three, we expect the preliminary designs to be completed in June this year, and for section one, to be completed in November – said Surlan.
