The Ministry of Economy has opened the public call for letters of interest for taking part in the process of the privatization of Novinsko-izdavacko preduzece Kompanija Borba AD Beograd, Stari grad.

According to the data from the website of the ministry, NIP Borba AD, at 7 Nikola Pasic Square, belongs among small companies and has 38 employees, and the director is Andrija Jorgic.

The total value of the company’s capital was estimated at RSD 1.7 billion at the end of 2022.

The total assets of the company amounted to close to RSD 1.9 billion at the end of 2022, whereas a year before they were RSD 2.1 billion.

The Republic of Serbia has 32.85397% of the capital, and the other shareholders have 67.14603%.

Other shareholders include Stamparija Borba, with 6.75% of the total capital, and the public call for its sale was opened last autumn.

Let us remind that, a year ago, the public call for expressing an interest in privatization was also opened for Stamparija Borba itself, and the company is on the list of the Ministry of Economy for potential privatization this year.

According to the data from the Companywall website, shares in NIP Borba AD also belong to the City of Belgrade (21.32%) and NID kompanija Novosti AD Beograd (19.05%). The same website says that the accounts of NIP Borba are blocked.

The website of the Serbian Business Registers Agency (SBRA) says that the company was founded on December 31, 2002 and active.

An entry from 2005 says that, based on the decision of the Commercial Court in Belgrade, the companies Savezna javna ustanova Borba Beograd, DP Borba-Plasman Beograd, DP Transport Borba Beograd, ZP Borba za pruzanje usluga doo Beograd and Ekonomska politika DD Beograd were incorporated into it at the time.

The first issue of the Borba daily came out in 1922 in Zagreb. The Borba company started dozens of printed publications, and prominent names of Serbian literature, such as Ivo Andric, Milos Crnjanski, Dobrica Cosic, Slobodan Selenic and many others wrote for it.

It was shut down in 2009, and 11 years later, the Borba magazine was launched, which also has an online edition and deals with cultural topics. The magazine is free and distributed from hand to hand, and the staff consists of students.

The magazine’s website notes that Borba has an invaluable archive of articles, including the first copies of Borba, Vreme, Politika, Sport, Novosti, Ekonomska politika, as well as over 200,000 photographs and a library with over 30,000 titles.

Two years ago, the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic awarded NIP Borba a 2nd-class Sretenje Order on the occasion of its 100th anniversary.

Letters of interest for the privatization of NIP Borba, which should contain a proposition of an indicative price, an investment program, a rough business plan and the number of employees that the investor is ready to employ for an indefinite period of time, are to be sent by mail or handed over directly at the clerk office of the Ministry of Economy by March 15, 2024.
