Belgrade and Athens Stock Exchanges Considering Further Cooperation

The director of the Belgrade Stock Exchange, Ivan Leposavic, has met with Andreas Daskalakis, the director of the department for new markets and international business development of Athex Exchange Group, the company which owns the Athens Stock Exchange.

The Athens Stock Exchange is a co-owner of the Belgrade Stock Exchange with a 10.24% capital share, and Daskalakis is also a member of the Supervisory Board of Belex.

– We have looked into exciting possibilities for further cooperation and new joint initiatives with our esteemed partners from Greece – the Belgrade Stock Exchange announced through its official LinkedIn profile following the meeting which was held on Wednesday, January 31.

Let us remind that, at the extraordinary session of the Assembly in December, the Belgrade Stock Exchange adopted the decision on the issuing of regular shares for the purpose of increasing the capital assets through new stakes.

According to that decision, the Belgrade Stock Exchange will issue 9,287 shares with a nominal value of RSD 30,200, whereas the issue price is RSD 48,811.

The deadline for the subscription and payment of new shares, which can be bought only by the existing shareholders, expires on February 26.

The Athens Stock Exchange (Athex) is the fourth biggest shareholder in Belex with 10.24% of the shares. It entered the ownership structure of the local capital market in 2021 “in order to jointly use the business opportunities in an era of accelerated globalization.”

The biggest ownership share in Belex belongs to the Republic of Serbia, which owns a 51.71% stake. Another 12.98% of the shares belongs to Beogradska Banka in bankruptcy, whereas 10.34% of the shares belongs to Beobanka in bankruptcy.
