Preparation Works on Construction of New Bridge in Novi Sad Soon – Job Worth RSD 2.4 Billion

The PE Corridors of Serbia has obtained the building permit for the preparatory works on the construction of the bridge in the extension of Evrope Blvd toward Sremska Kamenica.

The value of these works is RSD 2.4 billion.

The building permit for the construction of the bridge itself, with a viaduct, is still not issued. However, that could change soon, considering that Serbia took out a loan in October 2023 from the Chinese Export-Import Bank worth EUR 175.5 million in order to build this bridge.

In the meantime, the selection for expert supervision of the construction of the bridge with the viaduct and the surrounding traffic areas was completed, and the request for a change of the location permit for the temporary concrete factory within the Shipyard was also filed.

The most recent building permit, issued to the Corridors of Serbia pertains to the execution of the preparatory works for the needs of the construction of the bridge and encompass the preparation and the clearing of the terrain, the excavation of the humus, earthworks (works on the stabilization of the base) and the preparation of the piles for the security and stability of the terrain.

These works are estimated at RSD 2.4 billion and will be carried out on those parts of the Fishers’ Island, Kamenicka Ada and the coast of Sremska Kamenica where the forest has already been cleared and where the fence has already been put up.

The temporary traffic routes and the temporary bridge that was built by the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) for the purposes of the construction of a new bridge, have been located on these parcels for several months now. The PE Corridors of Serbia got the permits for this even earlier, although they initially started doing everything without the documentation, and the works also caused protests from the citizens which culminated in clashes with the police which protected the cutting of around 70 trees.

The preparatory works are likely to start in the coming days, because the registration, officially made on January 18 at the Central Register of Building Permits, has been completed.
