Changes to Customs Regulations Presented to Business Community

The Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and the Customs Administration of Serbia, has organized a professional meeting at which the Law on Amendments to the Customs Law and the Decree on Amendments to the Decree on Customs Procedures and Customs Formalities were presented. Over 100 business people took part in the gathering, who had the opportunity to get answers to all the questions in this field which are important for the operations of the economy.

The assistant minister in the Sector for the Customs System and Policy of the Ministry of Finance, Snezana Karanovic, presented the amendments to the Customs Law which pertain to the penalty clauses which are now defined with more precision, and new misdemeanors are also added by this law. She especially pointed to the new stipulations of the law which sanction the misuse of the participants in the customs procedure.

The assistant director at the Sector for Finance, Investment and Legal Affairs at the Customs Administration, Gordana Vukovic, pointed out that the aim was to create the most favorable business environment possible through joint activities and information sharing, whereas the assistant director at the Sector for Customs Procedures at the Customs Administration, Natasa Mirkovic, informed the business people about the most important changes and projects which the Customs Administration is carrying out and which will largely influence the business processes and demand adaptation of the same to the new systems. These are primarily the automation of imports and exports, NCTS phase 5, the system of the management of customs decisions, the so-called National Single Window and the risk analysis system. She said that the business community would be notified on time about all these changes.


The coordinator at the Sector for Finance, Investment and Legal Affairs at the Customs Administration, Ivanka Jovetic, talked to the business people in more detail about the more precisely defined conditions for the issuing of a guarantee, the forms of security, the types of security, the types of guarantees, the reference guarantee amount, the request for adopting the approval for the payment of a joint security, the cancellation and the recalling of the approval and the deadline for the discharge of liabilities for the security.
