Big Potential for Cooperation of Serbia and Cyprus in Diversification of Gas Supply

Djedovic Handanovic pointed out that the relations of the two countries were traditionally friendly and that the joint interest was to strengthen the economic and energy cooperation, considering the interests of both sides, as well as the considerable potentials, it is said on the website of the ministry.
She added that, among other things, “we are working on the preparation of the documentation for the gas interconnection with North Macedonia, which we expect to be completed within the next several years, whereby we are creating the possibility for a potential connecting with the East Mediterranean Gas Pipeline, in whose construction Cyprus plays a big role.”
Photiou pointed out that there was great potential for cooperation between the two countries in gas supply diversification.
He pointed to the great importance of the planned East Mediterranean Gas Pipeline (East-Med), which should connect the gas resources of the eastern Mediterranean with Bulgaria, Greece, and potentially with Serbia as well, through Cyprus, as well as improve European security of gas supply through a diversification of the sources and directions.
