Construction of Solar Power Plant on Roof of Heating Plant Pemci 1 in Kladovo Begins – First Prosumer Heating Plant in Serbia

For the needs of the municipality of Kladovo, through the USAID project “Better Energy”, the works on the construction of a small solar power plant with an installed power of 50 kW on the roof of the woodchip-powered heating plant Pemci 1 in Kladovo have begun. The produced electrical energy for the heating plant’s own needs, as well as for the placement in the distribution network, will be distributed under the purchaser-consumer (prosumer) system.

– This power plant will lower the costs of electrical energy for us. It should be the first prosumer heating plant in Serbia. We will use electrical energy for facilities at the heating plant. We expect an annual production of 75 to 80 megawatt-hours a year – says the acting director of the PE Jedinstvo from Kladovo, Zoran Petrovic.

With the improvement of the energy efficiency of the heating plant facility, which is managed by the PE Jedinstvo, the Municipality of Kladovo confirms its intention to support the development of sustainable energy, energy and climate security, through the development and use of sustainable models of financing for the energy repair of multi-residential buildings and public facilities.

– We will commission all the capacities we have in order to reach the goal together – says the president of the Municipality of Kladovo, Sasa Nikolic.

The aim is to double the capacities for the production of energy from sun through the solar power plant, especially if it is known that Kladovo is the municipality with the highest number of sunny days in the country. It is very important to expand the citizens’ awareness of the benefits of the production of electrical energy for own needs and for the number of prosumers to constantly grow.

– The sunny days enable the construction of more solar power plants in this area, both private ones and those in public utility enterprises. Solar energy is our future, especially considering the climate change – said the president of the Municipal Assembly of Kladovo, Radovan Arezina.

The installation of 110 photovoltaic panels of the monocrystal type, with an individual power of 545 Wp, is also planned. The panels will be set up in the southwest direction, at the angle which follows the slant of the heating plant’s roof. The total surface of all the elements of the system of the power plant’s panels amounts to close to 280 m2.

Three inverters will be used for the solar power plant Pemci 1, two with an individual power of 20 kW each and one of 10 kW.
