Representatives of the Government of Serbia and Pfizer Serbia today signed the Memorandum of Understanding as a confirmation of the partnership within the new bio-economic center in Belgrade under the name of BIO4 Campus.

That center will gather the academic community, the private sector, startups and all other relevant actors in order to make Serbia known for its innovations and science, says the press release by Pfizer. At the signing, the prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, expressed the satisfaction over the fact that one of the biggest global pharmaceutical companies had recognized the Government of Serbia’s activities related to scientific innovations.

– The cooperation with Pfizer and today’s signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is fully in line with the Government of Serbia’s choice to invest in science, innovations, use of modern technologies, biotechnology, and most importantly, in the implementation of one of the priority projects in this government’s mandate, which is the BIO4 Campus – Brnabic said.

She estimated that the signed document provided room for a further increase of the competitiveness of Serbia’s economy, with the focus on Pfizer’s engagement on increasing the number of clinical studies, education, promotion, sharing of knowledge and cooperation with institutes and faculties in Serbia in research and development.

The regional director of Pfizer, Mohamed Hammam, emphasized the importance of the cooperation between the private and public sectors.

– As a company which has been unstoppable day after day in its search for innovative discoveries which change the lives of patients, dedicated to finding solutions in order to reach every one of them, relying on science, which always wins, we are very happy that we will continue that mission through close cooperation with the state of Serbia – he said.

Pfizer is one of the leading innovative biopharmaceutical companies in the world, founded in 1849 in New York.
