Ahead of 2024 and 2025 and the marking of hundredth anniversary of the beginning of the First World War and the defense of Belgrade from the Austrian-Hungarian army, the memorial park around the Monument to the 1915 Defenders will be developed, which means that the three tennis courts built there when the Djokovic family managed the sports center in Kalemegdan will be demolished, announced the mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Sapic.

According to him, the Belgrade Sports Center will remain there; 14 or 16 courts will remain and one part will be handed over to the Srdjan Gale Muskatirovic center.

– We hope that this will provide a larger pool for the citizens, so that they don’t have to go to the current cramped one – he added.

– Just like all business spaces, when they are auctioned, the tennis courts will be given to whomever makes the best bid – said the mayor of Belgrade.
