There are intensive activities and procedures being carried out toward the realization of the project of the construction of the Trebinje airport, as a facility of strategic importance for Republika Srpska and Serbia, announced the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, and the minister of transport and communications of Republika Srpska, Nedeljko Cubrilovic, the competent ministry announced.

According to them, a decision on the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina is required in order to take the next steps – the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of the airport between the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Government of Serbia.

At the meeting, it was pointed out that the reconstruction of the Belgrade-Ruma-Zvornik-Doboj-Sarajevo railroad would also be done, which would be a joint project of the railroad companies of Serbia, RS and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The ministers also talked about improving the cooperation between the auto-moto associations of RS and Serbia, to the end of improving road assistance and traffic safety.

Vesic pointed out that, by the end of the year, Serbia would complete its section of the highway from Sremska Raca to Kuzmin, whereas an integrated border crossing would be established in Raca and put into operation in 2025.

– We are extremely proud that we have four traffic connections between Serbia and Republika Srpska. The first one is the Sremska Raca-Kuzmin highway section, 18 kilometers long, as well as the bridge on the Sava, which is fully finished. The Ruma-Sabac highway is also being built, and the building of the fast route to Loznica, with two branches toward Srpska, through Badovinci and Sepak near Zvornik, is to be continued, which is another connection with BiH and Republika Srpska – Vesic said.

He reminded that the highway to Pozega was being completed, from which one highway would go toward Duga Poljana and Montenegro, whereas the other highway would lead to Kotroman, that is, Visegrad.
