Radovan Jelasic assumes position of CEO at Erste Bank Hungary on June 1
Radovan Jelasic will assume the position of CEO at Erste Bank Hungary on June 1, Erste Group announced.
According to the statement issued by that group, Jelasic (43) will, upon the approval by competent Hungarian bodies, be appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairman of the Erste Bank Hungary Board of Directors.
Jelasic will replace Edith Papp who has "decided to pursue new professional opportunities and, therefore, announced her withdrawal from the position on May 31".
Former governor of the National Bank of Serbia is currently working for UniCredit Bank Group.
Radovan Jelasic was the governor of the National Bank of Serbia in the period between 2004 and 2010 and the vice-governor in the period 2000-2004. He played an important role in the consolidation of banking and insurance sectors in Serbia, strengthening of regulatory and supervisory frameworks, and representation of Serbia in crucial negotiations with international finance institutions.
He was born in Baja, in Hungary, and attended a secondary school in Budapest. After graduating from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Belgrade, he completed post-graduate studies at the University of Illinois in Chicago, USA, where he earned his M.B.A. degree at the Department of Finance.
