Miscevic stated that the majority of the funds would be meant for realizing the green agenda in the part which primarily pertained to the construction of the sewer system and waste water treatment.
We started with the reforming of institutions, and now we are talking about concrete local projects, she said and cited the project in the Zlatibor and Moravica districts, where around 100 thousand citizens would get a sewer system, as an example.
She estimated that it was considerable progress in the development of the green agenda and nature protection and added that the total fund for the project would amount to EUR 74 million.
– This is to be followed by two large and important segments in internal reforms which pertain to the reforming of the public administration and the rule of law. This is sector-based budget support and, for each of these fields, EUR 30 million will be set aside, which will be put into the projects of the execution of the Judiciary Development Strategy and the continuation of the Public Administration Reform Strategy – Miscevic said.
According to her, projects from the social sphere have not been forgotten either, primarily pertaining to internally displaces persons, but also to deinstitutionalization.
– A part of the funds has also been set aside for the improvement of the media environment, that is, for the further implementation of the media strategy, which doesn’t only pertain to the drafting of laws, but also to the creation of the conditions for professional operations of the media in Serbia – Miscevic said. She added that it was also important to employ young journalists.
The minister also said that a part of these funds would be meant for helping Serbia in the negotiation process, from the local to the national level, so that the country would prepare as well as possible for the further integration process.
– That is a process which encompasses the entire segment of reforms and the financial plan for 2024 is already being prepared, with the focus being placed on the issues that are important to the citizens – the minister emphasized.
