This tractor is meant for small and medium agricultural properties, has 90 horsepower and is made from over 800 components produced in Serbia.
– Since the production of tractors in Serbia was shut down some fifteen years ago, maybe even more, it takes courage to renew that system. We have gathered up the courage to do so and truly showed that we can connect over 40 local companies and subsidiaries. All those included in the production chain are additionally enabled and encouraged to employ new people and reduce the dependence on imports when it comes to production, which is our end-goal – points out Radovan Komad of the company Majevica in Backa Palanka.
They are the only factory in Europe, he says, which, in this unfavorable global situation, decided to launch tractor manufacture. In the past year and a half, around ten young mechanical engineers have worked on it. In Majevica, they got the opportunity to turn their ideas into reality.
– In the next two to three decades, I am sure, Serbian agriculturists will work to purchase new tractors, and if we as a society do not produce tractors, we will face what all others which are no longer industrial countries have faced. There will be no production and we will only import and take money out of the country – adds Radovan Komad.
The production of a local tractor is a great opportunity for the development of the Serbian economy.
– We all know that our local tractor IMT, which is unfortunately no longer produced, is still used on farms and has been for over 50 years, so we hope that this future tractor will also justify the reputation of the local production. It is especially praiseworthy that the production of this tractor will involve several subcontractors, so the whole thing will upgrade both small and large companies – says Aleksandar Milovanovic of the Serbian Association of Young Agriculturists.
Serbian agriculturists also have the advantage and special purchase conditions.
– The purchase of a tractor should come with new mechanization as well, which will be a package with five to seven connecting machines with a repayment period of 5 to 7 years, and the agriculturists will be able to pay it out either through loans or through goods exchange, like we’ve done with grains, or in cash, whichever way they see fit – explains Dajana Darlic of Majevica, Backa Palanka.
This company has a tradition that’s 117 years long, they export agricultural mechanization to over 40 countries of the world, to Europe, Asia and Africa, and they are announcing the sale of the first ten tractors for the end of September.
