Why is electrical and electronic waste dangerous?

Electrical and electronic waste (EE waste) is one of the fastest-growing waste streams by quantity. The data from the UN Environment Programme show the generation of electronic waste is growing by 40 million tons a year, making it one of the worst forms of pollution in the world. From the environmental standpoint, this is one of the biggest problems we are facing. Proper collection, recycling and waste disposal is imperative in the fight for preserving the environment.

Electrical and electronic waste is categorized as a HAZARDOUS WASTE because it contains many harmful and dangerous substances that enter the food chain through soil and water and seriously threaten people`s health.

Some of the toxic substances are : lead, mercury, nickel, cadmium, barium and beryllium.

According to the regulatory framework of that time, before the center became operational, the environmental impact assessment study had to be conducted and the permit for construction obtained.

The treatment and reuse of the waste is done at the innovative facilities equipped with sophisticated technology that secures the handling of waste in line the environmental protection requirements.
