Only two weeks after it commissioned the preparation of a technological study of development of the Belgrade Rail Hub, the company Serbian Railways Infrastructure also opened two tenders for the designing of a new BG Voz line.

The first public procurement procedure entails the preparation of technical documentation for the construction of a Makis station for BG Voz and a railroad from the Knezevac tunnel to the future Makis station for BG Voz, parallel with the existing railroad Beograd Ranzirna “A”-Rasputnica “T”-Rakovica.

This practically means that the designing of a new BG Voz line which will connect Makis, Rakovica and Karaburma, by the Knezevac tunnel, which was bored through back in 1987 in order to connect Rakovica and Makis, passing beneath Vidikovac, and which is currently not used by passenger trains, is to begin.

According to the technical specification of the job, considering that the BG Voz system is currently the basis of the system of urban and suburban railroads in the territory of the City of Belgrade, and based on the General Urban Plan of Belgrade for 2021 and the Concept of Development of the Belgrade Rail Hub, it is necessary to design and build the Makis railroad station (the exit/entry station of Line 3 of BG Voz on the Makis-Rakovica-Karaburma route), which would be connected by a new two-track railroad with the Beograd Ranzirna-Rakovica railroad beneath the left and right tunnel tubes of the Knezevac tunnel.

The subject of the project task is the construction of the left and right tracks (from the future railroad switches beneath the Knezevac tunnel to the future BG Voz station Makis) and the construction of the BG Voz station Makis.

As said, the Makis station is planned in a favorable location close to the future subway station, with at least two platforms 110 meters long and at least three station tracks, along with the construction of the structures necessary for rail and other features (ticket counters, information desks, commercial and hospitality features etc.), as well as structures for the electrical infrastructure.

– The project design should enable suitable access for passengers to the station platforms by a de-leveled connection, as well as access by foot with the Makis subway station, and a rail parking space for the staff, passengers and users of rail services (park and ride) should be envisaged in close proximity to the station platform – reads the tendering documentation.

The planned train speed is 50 km/h.

It is noted that the project should envisage the technology of the execution of works so that it doesn’t jeopardize the regular traffic on the Beograd Ranzirna-Rakovica two-track railroad and the Beograd Ranzirna station.

The tender expires on May 19.

The subject of the second tender is the designing of the BG Voz station Karaburma and the railroad from the tunnel tubes Vracar to the future station Karaburma.

As said, it is necessary to design the railroad station Karaburba (the exit station of Line 3 of BG Voz on the Makis-Rakovica-Karaburma route), which would connect by the new two-track railroad with the Beograd Centar-Pancevacki Most-Pancevo Glavna railroad in the Vracar tunnel.

It is added that, in the Vracar tunnel, on the Beograd Centar-Pancevacki Most-Pancevo Glavna railroad, in the past period, two tunnel tubes have been built – the left one from km 0+000 to km 0+672 and the right one from km 0+000 to km 0+675.

The subject of this project task is the construction of the left and right tracks (from the future railroad switch in the Vracar tunnel to the future station Karaburma), the construction of the BG Voz station Karaburma and the reconstruction of the left and right tunnel tubes of the Vracar tunnel (around 600 meters long).

This station is also planned to have at least two platforms 110 meters long and three station tracks.

The tender is also open until May 19.

The master plan of the traffic infrastructure of Belgrade, which was presented in 2017, says that BG Voz will become one of the backbones of the public transport in the city.

The plan is for this rail network, which already operates the lines Batajnica-Ovca, Resnik-Ovca, Ovca-Mladenovac and Lazarevac-Ovca, to also, in addition to the Makis-Karaburma line, go from New Belgrade toward Surcin, the airport and the future national stadium.

Also, said study will also examine the possibility of introducing trains on the Beograd Centar-Stara Pazova route.
