The PE Roads of Serbia has submitted to the competent ministry the request for deciding on the necessity of an environmental impact assessment study of the project of the construction of the Ruma-Sabac highway on columns, in the cadaster municipality of Klenak.

As said in the preliminary design prepared by Institut za puteve AD Beograd, this pertains to the highway section from km 65+300.00 to km 66+970.00.

Based on the hydrological-hydraulic analysis of the impact of the river Sava on the Ruma-Sabac highway, done by the Jaroslav Cerni Water Institute, the optimal solution for the highway’s pass across the river bed, from km 65+300.00 to km 66+970.00, is proposed, says the preliminary design.

The construction of the highway on columns, instead of an embankment, is proposed, on the entire length from the toll booth to the beginning of the access structure on the bridge on the Sava.

Let us remind that the Ruma-Sabac highway, 22 km long, is part of the Ruma-Sabac-Loznica traffic route, which also encompasses the bridge on the Sava, which was connected last summer.

According to the announcements made by those in charge, the Ruma-Sabac section is expected to open to traffic in the autumn.
