The International Tourist Guide Day, which is celebrated worldwide on February 21, will be marked this year in Nis as well, where the Association of Tourist Guides of this city will organize free tours, and those interested will be able to hear stories about the achievements of the Serbian army during the First World War, visit the Fortress and Mediana, go to Pirot, or take the monastery tour to Djunis.

Bus tickets can be picked up on Thursday, February 16, and Friday, February 17, at the tourist agencies Nitravel, Niturs, Vin Travel and Maestro Travel.

This year, the Association of Tourist Guides of Serbia in Nis is organizing four free bus tours:

1. Travel through WW1: by bus – city center, visit to the French and British WW1 military cemeteries, on Delijski Vis, a visit to the monument to Dragutin Matic in Gadzin Han, a story about the achievements of the Serbian army during the First World War. After that, a visit to the Malca winery, with a story about Niska Banja, the Sicevac and Jelasnica gorges, the Orient Express. The tour ends at the Malca winery. The bus returns to the starting point, by the theater.

2. The Roman Nis: on foot and by bus, with a pass through the fortress, through Gradsko Polje, to Mediana and back to the Nis city center. In the focus of this year’s celebration of the International Tourist Guide Day, one tour has to be thematically marked by the Roman history of the city, where we will take our fellow citizens and guests to the Archaeology Park Mediana, as well as remind of this year’s 300th anniversary of the Nis Fortress, with a story of the Roman city of Naissus. Before the bus returns to the starting location, we will make a stop at the Wine Cellar and Restaurant in Malca, where, in addition to other historical periods when it comes to making wine in these areas, we will also see the oldest ones – the ancient Roman one, with wine in amphoras. The bus returns to the starting point, by the theater.

3. Pirot - Museum of Ponisavlje: a bus tour which would encompass setting off from the Nis city center, through the Sicevac Gorge, to Pirot and the Museum of Ponisavlje, with a story about its pressed sausages, Pirot carpets, Momcilov Grad (Pirot Fortress). For the first time, on this Tourist Guide Day, we are including a new tour in our program, through which we would promote the city of Pirot and its cultural heritage. The bus returns to the starting point, by the theater.

4. The monastery tour – Djunis, Adrovac: as we’ve had very good comments about this tour last year, it was not difficult to decide to repeat it all this year as well. The bus returns to the starting point, by the theater.

The departure is scheduled for Tuesday, February 21, at 10 AM, from the plaza behind the National Theater.
